The Global Studio established a master plan for the Agros village of El Eden in 2006. A year later the 2007 studio had the opportunity to spend two weeks in El Eden and see the physical realization of the first phase of the master plan from the previous year. During this time the group designed a composting toilet specified by last year's team and began the construction process in collaboration with El Eden community members.

The Global Studio team then moved north to Aldea San Jose for the remaining four weeks of the Studio to design a master plan for a new Nicaraguan community. Issues addressed in developing a master plan for San Jose included: water distribution, housing/lot layout, agricultural infrastructure, design of a school and health center and how these elements work together to develop community and communal spaces. One of The Global Studio's main priorities was to facilitate community members' participation in the design and decision making process hoping to empower the community to think proactively about their collective future and set a path for positive development.
